Olive leaves used to be chewed in some villages to prevent dental caries, which is caused by the acid produced by bacteria present in the mouth. Combining the past with the future is the result of the gum containing olive leaf extract. To prove that, science was our guide. We got the extract of the olive leaf to make the tests needed to insure how right that idea is. After we got the pure extract of the olive leaf, we went to the microbiology lab where some tests were done. We made the antimicrobial test to see the antimicrobial effect of the olive leaf extract on the bacteria in the mouth that cause dental caries. Toxicology test was also performed to insure the absence of toxic substances. Other tests were done to make sure of that hypothesis, and to provide the best quality of that olive leaf extract. The final product was the gum containing olive leaf extract, which could actually prevent dental caries.
