The project aims at reducing the power consumption and capacity requirements, through savings in the road lighting system. A simple minutre was constructed whereby the lighting of bulbs is controlled by the a relay. The relay receives an input from a motion sensor upon the arrival of a vehicle. A timer will signals the relay after a programmed amount of time, disconnecting the power, and turning off the lights.
The minuture successfully implemented the concept of motion controlled lighting in public road systems. If applied to the existing infrastructure, it is foreseen that significant savings can be achieved by using the lights when needed.
